Already from a young age, cellist and composer Thomas Prechal (2004) has been grasped by every
aspect of music: from playing the cello, to composing his own pieces, improvising on the cello and
the piano, music theoretical analysis and the beauty of bringing people together with the music.
In 2025, Thomas is invited to play recitals in the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and at eminent festivals
in the Netherlands (Zeist Music Days, Festival Schiermonnikoog, Wonderfeel Festival, Oranjewoud
Festival). Furthermore, he is selected for a residency (duo with piano) at the Festival International du
Piano de la Roque d’Anthéron and he will perform with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra.
During the year, Thomas will be working on commissions for the Cello Biennale Amsterdam and
Festival Eibergen.
Next to his first prize and audience prize at the Cello Biënnale Amsterdam competition 2024, Thomas
is prizewinner of the 'David Popper', 'Gustav Mahler' and 'Edmond Baert' international cello
competitions. In 2021, Thomas received the Verbier Festival Special Prize of Merit and the Special

the Netherlands (Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Amare Den Haag) but also to France (Salle Cortot),
Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain (Auditorio de Galicia), the Czech Republic (Rudolfinum
